Shot a bear yesterday, saw a recipe for bacon wrapped tender loins and gave it a try. I was very happy with it!

It was simple, just some bacon wrapped around some 1" cubes fried in a pan till the bear was done.

Very tasty!

Bear meat is very good! I really like it and who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and get one myself this year!

Bacon with anything is good. Bear is already quite good, especially when the bear come from grazing on berries. The bacon only enhances the natural flavour.

Congrats on the bear Jake. Great shooting and amazing how well that 280 is working for you. Can't wait to see what the 270 does!

Thanks guys. This bear had been grazing on berries for sure! Scat looked like some sort of berrry pie filling!

So who's up for some bear scat pie?

I'm thinking even bacon wouldn't make that dish palatable!

Jake,

That sounds wonderful!
I have bacon, all I need is a bear tag.

I would agree, bacon on or with most anything goes well.
More often than not with wild game, I will get the grill really hot and sear the meat on all sides. Then move over to a cooler side, to finish "roasting" with bacon just laid atop the meat. The self-basting action of the bacon keeps from drying out the main cut, and the flavor imparted just is a bonus. Better yet, is doing this over a hardwood fire,,,,yummmmmmm

Man, now that is making me hungry. Might have to break out a little elk and try it out! Scotty
