I have a BAR Safari 338WM w/BOSS. It is a "shooter".... but I just don't like all that trigger travel. Does anybody know if something can be done about that or if there is an after market trigger that can purchased? I almost traded the gun today but backed out. I like the gun too much and want to make this work as my "big" gun.
I only have carried this gun for a few days each year (3 years now). I would like to do something with this trigger.

Take it to a gunsmith you trust. Talk with them about the trigger and what you'd like it to be. He/she should be able to adjust the factory trigger, if not, they can always put in an aftermarket trigger if available.

I don't know if there's an aftermarket trigger available for the BAR, but it's worth contacting Browning to find out if it can be adjusted. Bear in mind that you will be at the mercy of the knowledge of the tech you end up with. I spoke with one that had no idea how a BAR worked, as he said the gas regulator adjusts by how tightly you install it. Well, having worked on these guns for a long time, I can tell you the whole thing about the gas regulator is that it is a fixed piece, meant to be screwed down tight, and the only regulation that occurs is through the hole in the center of it. That's why when you order one, it's caliber/cartridge specific. Different size holes for different cartridges to keep the cycling pressure and volume within spec.

As for adjusting the trigger, I've never worried over it. Mine is a first or second year gun, and it has a 3.25lb trigger that breaks clean and crisp. I can't see messing with it. Now, on the other hand, I've seen some that had horrible triggers, so there's got to be something you could do. At least I hope so. Call Browning and see what they say, and maybe google the idea and see what you come up with.

Timney makes replacement springs to lighten the trigger in A-bolts. Brownells stocks them. I'm not sure if you can get springs for a BAR, but Brownells would be a good place to check.

Thanks on the Brownells - I didn't find a lighter spring for the BAR trigger, but haven't given up yet. I'm going to contact Browning by email or phone and see what they suggest.
