i've heard that while the BC value on the tsx is higher than most other bullets, that trajectory drops off quicker and they don't shoot as flat as other bullets. is it because of the rings? i want to try some of the 100gr. TTSX in my 25/06 but can't understand why the BC is lower than that for the 100 TSX.

.370 for the non-tipped hollow point TSX
vs.
.357 for the tipped TTSX

very intersting find .......

direct quote from barnes website:
".....but with an added polymer tip that boosts BC and improves long-range ballistics."

I think that in some cases the tip is not the only difference.... example the 6mm tsx is listed as 85 grains and the tipped version is listed as 80 grains.

I looked at 150 grain 308 and 225 grain 338 comparisons and the tipped versions have a much higher BC.

got me wonderin whats up with that 100 g 257????? :?:

Try contacting Ty at Barnes. He is a good guy.

Well that was the case with the 25cal. 100gr TTSX, that's why I droped it from my list of possibles, (hope the 100gr. E-Tip is good). However, in most cases the tip raises the BC a little as in the 168gr. TTSX & others.

I e-mailed Barnes about that bullet, thinking that was a typo, but it wasn't.
Who knows, they maybe shaped the overall bullet diff. for accuracy or terminal performance, they did not say why.

A higher BC value & dropping more are mutually exclusive, if the REAL BC is higher, then it will shoot flatter. Yes, some say the rings reduce BC. The real way to test BC for your loads to use a chron.& check the drop at various ranges. But yea, in most cases you will find other bullets like the BT & AccuBond will have a higher BC, not in all weights, but most.
