Barrel twist

Agree with you, and I am also excited about the quarter bore bullets coming out. Just finished a 25 CM with 128 ELD-X bullets. Shoots great with high BC value. Using Shilen ratchet with 1:7 twist on a 24” tube proven to be very good at long range.
Would love to hear what loads you were trying in the 25 CM with the 128 gr ELD-X!
Haven't found actual load data for this bullet yet, but am looking at trying VN555, H4350, Re-16, StaBall 6.5, and Superformance.

Have you tried the any of the new Sierra 131 gr TGK yet?

i'm awaiting on a 25creed AR barrel (7T) and have 128edl-x, 131smk (not tipped) and a few others (128's are the lowest weight i have that's cup-n-core) including barnes 100tsx-bt's for some high speed which could get me over 3,300fps with the 26" barrel (+3 gas).

I stumbled into this Berger FAQ , while looking for other info . thought you guys might be interested . I knew match shooters used minimum twist rates , but didn't know why .

Why do you recommend the slowest twist?

Spinning a bullet faster than necessary can amplify any inconsistency in the bullet. Since we use J4 jackets, you can shoot Berger Bullets in faster twist than what is listed. We list the slowest twist rate needed because we want to squeeze every bit of accuracy out of a rifle.

I read a lot where folks are going to faster twist barrels to be able to shoot longer bullets. So what is the downside and how do you know the limit? I understand caliber plays a part as does velocity but are there guidelines?

Here you go.

Plug in your #'s and play all you want.

Places like midwayUSA and ofcourse google will provide bullet BC/length etc. Much easier than trying to rehash all the twist stuff on here.
