Doing a little tweaking with my Bear Load for this Fall. Will be trying next Thursday different loads of TAC and H4895 - trying to stay over 2500fps but accomplish better accuracy.

Good luck with your load development. Great picture!

Thanks JD, I am trying to tighten up this load and keep it over 2500fps. Yep, cool picture, I had fun getting it just right.

Your 358 is a whopper for sure. I believe I am getting 2450 out of the SGK's, but as soon as it is possible, I have 225gr PT's to get loaded up. I think anything over 2400 in my Browning will be great. Your load is excellent Mike. Hope you can tune it some, but man, what a great game load. Scotty

That is a great photo!

Also, I wouldn't sweat the velocity too much. Decent velocity coupled with good accuracy will allow you to place that bullet properly and let it work. I hit my bear, first shot at just over 300 yards and only started the bullet at 2620 fps. These Accubonds seem to be really good bullets and don't need high velocity to work well.

I've lost track, where are you hunting for bear this year? Best of luck on the hunt. Looks to me like you're doing a lot with the rifle & load for success in the field.

+1 on what Guy said. In the real world, what difference is 2400 and 2500 out to 250 yards? In fact, you probably won't be shooting a bear over 150-200 yards will you? Is there something we're missing on the 2500+ requirement, Mike?

Scott, the velocity of this bullet over 2500fps at muzzle really allows there to be a balance between energy and momentum so at 200-250yrds (250yd is absolute max for me with this round on bear) and I still have enough of both to put a real hurting on the bear and also have a good flat trajectory so I can hit the spot I want from up close to my self-imposed max distance of 250yds. Really prefer to be under 200yds. Last bear I killed was at 90 yds.

Where in AZ are you planning to hunt? I guess I should ask, did you have to draw for a particular area? There's some decent bear hunting here but I have to admit they ain't very cooperative. Area 1 has a few bears and while I haven't hunted there, area 27 next to area 1 is suposed to be good for bears. I did see a bear in area 1 while sitting on a stand on an elk hunt about 7 years ago. Good luck o getting a bear. If you get to Tucson, give me a shout and maybe we can have a cup or two.

Paul, I will be hunt east and north of Morince and Cliton. I will use my 300Win in some areas I go to and in others I use my 358Win. When I go Arizona I will take a day maybe, depending on how things go and come and see you.
