Bear Mauling/Accidental Shooting

Man there seems to be a lot of bear encounters this year.. I believe this is the second one in the southern portion of British Columbia this fall.
I am not sure if we will get the report once the investigation has been completed.
I feel bad for both the hunters.

Blessings,
Dan

Hope he recovers quickly, tough thing for both hunters to live through. Again, grizzlies need to be hunted so there are less incidents like this.

Glad the hunter is going to live through such an ordeal.

There is nothing friendly about friendly fire.
Glad all will survive.

Just read, second report. The victim name is Wilf Lloyd and he grew up & went to school with my younger brothers & sisters. I went all the way through school with his older sister Linda.
Wilf has lived in Carnbrook for many years & owns the taxidermist's shop there!!
Sending prayer for a quick recovery!!

Blessings,
Dan

I wonder where the CTV reporters found their "expert" on animal behavior? Typical of the left wind media to blame the hunters some how. Hope he recovers well.

Good point, Gerry. If the reports are correct, Wilf didn't fire a shot, which indicates that events happened quite quickly. There likely wouldn't have been time for him to retrieve a canister of spray, aim and fire. His SIL reacted quickly. As for bears becoming more aggitated at gunfire, that has not been my experience. I have, on at least one occasion, broken off a charge with a shot; the bear did scurry off about a hundred yards to give my hunting partner and myself time to retreat.

I know that Wilf is a very experienced Hunter. He has been living in Cranbrook for many years. I believe well over 20 years. So I would think he was well aware of what Grizzly bear's habits would be!!!
Everyone or anyone can be a expert!!

Blessings,
Dan

Yes read & listened to the video. Wilf gave a very good account of what happened. For what ever reason that Griz was not going to take no for a answer. I am sure glad that Wilfi is on the road to recovery!!

Blessings,
Dan

Good god that would be terrifying. I'm sure the physical recovery will take time, but the mental recovery will be a lifetime. Glad he's... ok.

I do not understand why city folk think that wolves and bears are their friends? I remember going to Yellowstone in 1964 and some dummy from back east was trying to seat Junior on Yogi's back for a picture! How stupid can a person (tree hugger) be?
