I dunno. I like the Number One so much... That gorgeous custom Model 70 might either become a financial investment or get put away until I decide to go for grizzly or cape buffalo...

Custom rifles have not, at least for me anyhow, proven to be much of a investment vehicle. Unless it was made for someone famous, they just don't yield much ROI!

I understand, and normally agree. Have already been offered twice what I paid for it, so feeling pretty good about letting it sit in the safe for now.

Guy

Kind of thinking about making it an all .30-06 CDL season this year. Deer, antelope, elk & bear... Why not? One rifle, one load for everything.

Nothing wrong with that plan. I can't see that you'd be undergunned for any of those species.

Sheesh, other than he is trying to make too much sense.. One rifle, ha, one load, hahhahahahahaha, one bullet, just plain hogwash. What is this place coming too.

Guy this is the Nosler site 8) no one here relies on one calibre one rifle. Bud just cause you have retired you don't have to buck the general population !
You have to give that 375 some time as well.

Blessings,
Dan

Well, all you need is a 30-06, Scotty. Then you could give Guy some help.

Guy,

Go for the fun and excitement of the hunt and the stalk! Use the 30-30, get close and see why so many have hunted bears with the old leverguns. The smile on your face when you get that bear won't be easily erased, and the memories will last a lifetime!

Yes, the 30-06 should be broken in, but moose, deer and elk season are getting closer, and you'll get to use it there.

The 375 will definitely work on a bear, but place that big bullet through soft tissue only, where it won't get a chance to open fully on heavier bone, and your blood trail may end up being longer than you may be comfortable with. And since most experienced bear hunters will tell you how little blood trail can be found from even a mortally wounded bear, this could add up to some unnecessary "second guessing" when the blood trail diminishes before finding your bear.

Yep...the 30-30 gets my vote for your next adventure!

'Course, I hope if it is truly plain vanilla, you put some sprinkles on it. A new scope, perhaps? Some really "sexy" bullet? Perhaps an E-Tip?

Good one, Scotty. Just for completeness sake, you should measure the barrel at the muzzle and the bore diameter to verify it is the same.
