Got a call from my taxidermist, sort of a surprise, I didn't expect the rugs to be ready yet. They look good!

I'll get a photo of my son's bear later, it's a little smaller, but not much. With more light on it, the bear looks chocolate brown. Here it looks pretty dark.

That is one fine looking rug! Great color, I'm a big fan of the dark brown phase.

Nice stick as well!

Guy

Beautiful bear! Congratulations to you.

Guy,

The rug is really attractive. I love that colour. Great bear and a good job by your taxidermist.

Very nice, Guy. For a long time I had no interest in bears, but I've about decided I'd like to go after them having heard a few stories of some black bear hunts in areas where it's spot-and-stalk. Very nice bear, and very nice picture, Guy. Enjoy!

Guy, that was a good black bear and the rug really turned out great. Great picture you took of the rifle on the rug.

No toe wiggling yet.

I couldn't be happier with the way the rugs turned out. Great mementos of a terrific father-son hunt last fall.

Young John already has a hunk of wall space reserved for his bear, he marked it off at about age 12, telling me that he wanted to save that wall space for a cougar or bear rug.

Not quite sure where mine is going - likely banished to the upstairs "gun room" - which is okay w/me!

Guy, looking at those pictures, I can see the pride, comraderie, and goodness between father and son. Makes me excited for the coming seasons with my 10yr old. Perhaps I'll get him on a nice deer this fall and have some pictures and memories as well. He's been tagging along for a number of years, but this will be his first season carrying a rifle. Lots to do before the season!

That is a very nice finished product, Guy!! The color is beautiful and it makes me want to move black bear to #2 on my list of importance (since I've never taken one).

Mike - #1 would be a 150"+ mule deer. I did take my first muley in 2009 but it was only about 130". Having thought about it some though....maybe a nice black bear should be #1!!

Scott,

You're missing a bet not elevating your black bear to Number One. They can be surprisingly cagey. Spot and stalk bear are a worthy opponent. Mule deer are worthy, but in my estimate, a mature black bear is one of the most wary species you will ever hunt.

WOW!! Awesome rug Guy. I had my last black bear soft tanned but man, your rug looks AWESOME. Great picture and what a hog of a bear.

Mike is right, Black Bear are some cagey animals. It is a tossup to me between muleys and bear, but heck, I can usually hunt them during the same time, so whichever shows up first is good with me in the Fall!

Spring bear is a ton of fun though. Scotty
