Beaver and raccoon seen on this morning's walk

Maverick and I walked nearly 5 miles in town this morning, some of it along the Columbia River. We saw a beaver, which is fairly unusual for me to see. Also saw a raccoon on the bank of the river:





The osprey were quite active too - but I didn't get any particularly good photos of them.

Both of these critters were hoped for, but not expected. They "could" be there, but usually they're not. I really lucked out this morning and both of them showed up, well lit by the morning sun. I'm grateful.

The way I usually find beavers before daylight is almost urinating myself when that damn tail slaps the water!!

Ol' Maverick and I walked along the Columbia again this morning. The beaver swam past. We watched three raccoons foraging along the bank:
