Berger Ammunition

Anyone have thoughts about Berger VLD Hunting Ammunition?...I am thinking about getting some 140 gr for my 6.5 Swede if/when it becomes available (I don't reload)...I have 4 boxes of Nosler Trophy Grade 140 gr ABs that do great in this rifle already but have been giving some serious thought to the Bergers...

Never used the first round of the Berger hunting ammo. I am sure it is put together well and if it shoots in your Swede, I am thinking it'll really hammer whitetails buddy..

The only way to really know is to roll the dice and see if it shoots. Good luck!

People tend to be at one extreme or another when speaking of Berger bullets--it is either love or hate. Bergers are accurate and they will assuredly kill game.

I have never used a Berger, but my Cousin thinks that they are top shelf. He shoots a pile of critters and talks very highly of them.
However for the last 2 years he has been using Nosler Accubonds and states they are every bit as good as the Berger.

HSM also sells ammo loaded with Berger hunting bullets. I've used HSM ammo off and on for a long time and have yet to be disappointed.

Re the Bergers - I'm comfortable with them on deer sized game, absolutely.

...several good threads on Bergers in there...there is a lot of good information on this forum...just gotta look for it...

The bullet test section is my favorite part of our forum. Really a lot of information there. Always good to see bullets pulled from animals and water jugs. Gives a little extra assurance on the bullets we choose.

Agree Scotty, there are some great test reports and photos in that Bullet Test section.

Almost as cool as the various hunting photos - those really grab my attention!

My hunting partner has purchased the HSM Berger ammo for every rifle he had, up to the last 2 he just bought which came with custom ammo. It really didn't shoot well at all in any of them. As we all know that every rifle seems to like certain bullets and certain loads, and his rifles didn't like these.

On the flip side, he gave me the 7mm Rem loads and my Sendero does well with them. I'm going to pattern them for setting up some reloads soon.
