Well my ol man is not getting any younger, creeping up on the high side of his 60's, and as a result the eyes are not what they used to be. So after buying a new remington 870 express last fall and installing the Hi-vis fibre optic sites, he was really not that pleased with it. The express is heavier and a little different to shoulder then his 70's era wingmaster. So this X-mas he admitted that the 3.5" shells really beat him up, and the 3" in the express walloped fair enough ( all goose loads). So today we went to the city and he piked up a new berretta x-2, with the kick-off system, and the shop we were at had already installed a speed bead, this thing is fairly lite and nice to shoulder I'm sure he will be pleased with it. I was wondering if any on the forum has either of these products and used them could comment on them? oh sept. is so far away!

Well I guess I left my self open to this so I may a as well come out with it. I am a Hunter ,I might not have the most trophy;s but there is meet in the freezer, I am a fisherman, I might not have the fanciest boat or the latest gear but I eat my share of fillets. Worst of all I am a WATERFOWLER, other than range time I may only fire 3-4 shots of actual hunting lead. But 12 gauge shells you go thru by the case, a good shoot of ducks and geese will leave ya smiling and with a sore shoulder for at least a couple a days, or until the next shoot. I realize this is a hunting forum intended for biggame/ varmints, but really? No shotgunning duck OR goose bangers I am shocked.

There are a few duck goose hunters here. I'm sure they will be checking in.

super-7, Im a hunter too like most of us here and I've just started duck hunting again after about a 18 year break and its been a lot of fun. The problem is that semi auto and pump shotguns and I dont get along to well, Im an over and under guy. Maybe you can have your fathers gun ported and hunt with hearing protection. That what my father does and he's in his 70's

I added almost 10k miles on the odometer of my F250 this fall chasing them webfoot wonders.Hunted Texas,Oklahoma and Missouri.
I tinker with rifles and reloading because I deer hunt once a year for a week and I just like to shoot rifles.Punching holes in paper to me is a stress reliever.
I also used to shoot quite a bit of pistol ammo too.Somewhere in the 1k round a week area.
When I'm not chasing birds I'm catching sac-au-lait.

I had an extrema for one season.Great shotgun, just didn't fit me well.I was never comfortable shooting it.I sold it and replaced it with Beretta Pintail, then added a Benelli Super Black Eagle.
Nothing wrong with an 870,I have three of them locked in the safe and at one point I had about 7 of them.
I goose hunt with a Browning Gold 10 Ga.

Oh and you're right.Nothing in the world compares to the rush of wind through locked wings and watching them pour into the decoys.

Folks don't call me "Howard the Duck" for nothing!

I have the original Extrema and several other Beretta semi-autos. My Extrema make shooting them 3" & 3 1/2" mag goose loads easy. The gun is lite, very reliable, easy to disassemble to clean, and easy to shoot. I'm sure he'll enjoy this shotgun.
