Best sling you ever used?

Since I do not use slings to help aim a rifle my interest is strictly easy carry. ( I worry about torquing a wood stock) For wood stocked rifles I've put a Levy Brothers hunting sling on my latest rifle. It's padded (thin layer) and distributes a heavy rifle well. It's also well built and compliments the wood.

Will not slip off your shoulder as you walk, and very comfortable. I own a few, plus one of their Magnum slings which I will soon be using to carry my Sendero out antelope hunting in WY. I never use any other sling anymore.

Well, you know my answer if you've been around. Turner Saddlery National Match sling. Quality construction, good balance of suppleness and stiffness in the leather, keepers stay put. A military issue M1907 or Garand cotton web sling would be a close second. My walking gun carries a modified web. I stitched in a heavy leather 'cobra' at the front for more comfortable carry.

I do use mine as a marksmanship aid, and not just in competition. When I'm sitting in a stand or stool, I'm usually looped in. Almost as steady as a rest with practice. They also carry better than most people think.

I also have a Turner "biothane" competition sling that would be quite good for field use. Too sticky for my taste in competition shooting but I use it for rain days. Really sticks to clothing so it would make a good field sling.

I use the Brownell's Latigo sling. It is very adjustable and works well for shoulder carry and is quickly changed with the pull on the strap to provide support for shooting. Works as advertised.

Like Polaris, I'm another dedicated user of the 1907 military style leather sling, specifically the version made by Turner Saddlery. Very well made, durable. I use the same sling on my hunting rifle, as on my SWAT rifle, as on my competition rifle... Keeps things consistent.

I'll "loop up" when I'm on a stand, or just be ready to use that Turner sling as a "hasty sling" for a shooting aid.

Most of my rifle range practice is from various shooting positions, prone, sitting, kneeling and standing. I'll use the sling then, as I do in the field.

A 1907 sling, the latest is from Turner. I keep mine set for sitting or kneeling. If I'm in stalking mode I typically trap the sling to the bottom of the stock with my hand.
I also like that I can easily adjust the sling to carry across my back, to climb some rim I shouldn't be climbing.

Latigo!

This fall I'm giving a Montana sling a try, it looks good, I'm hoping to like it as much as a Latigo.

Turner sling or the Brownells version. Both of them are incredible shooting aids.

Ditto. Only sling I use.

I have no favorite/best sling, just one that carrys the rifle's wt. and stays on the shoulder.

I'm with Schutte on this one. I primarily have a sling on my rifle to carry it. In the very rare case I shouldn't have some sort of rest available, my chosen sling does allow me to do a quick arm wrap and a quick adjust with a simple tub on it's adjustment strap.

With that said, a 1" leather strap doesn't cut it. I don't care how it looks. I'm not on the range, so I don't want to make 30 loop this, and hook that's before I can take a shot.

The sling on my rifles is a $8.99 Wally World special, made by the Allen Co. They have a neoprene shoulder pad attached to a 1" strap and a simple pull loop to tighten. Comfortable, quick.

Works for me.....

Best self defense combat sling I've ever used, and use all the time, is a Savvy Sniper QUAD X Cobra (Extreme) Sling.
Nothing better for an AR type rifle, mine has both Q.D. and H.K. attachments.

I also had him make me a custom dual sling the uses HK hooks to attach to my D rings on my Backpack and then to my tactical long rifle, super slick for lugging around my TRG-42.

I also use a 1 1/4" military style leather sling that I've own for decades that works great to.

Me I like Leather 1 inch for light rifles 1 1/4 inch heavy rifles and like all good Marines to go around my arm for support when shooting.
