Last year I was able to get my young buddy into a nice buck and a cow elk. Today got him into a black bear that squares over 6 feet.
He made a 330 yard shot on the walking bear with his Browning 300 WSM 180 gr Nosler AB.
Shot was right behind the near shoulder, broke the far leg. The bear was dead on his feet but made it about 20 yards straight down hill.
We had been glassing a hill side when the bear walked into view. Instantly knew it was a big bear, said shoot that dang bear. Didn’t have to tell him twice.

'Tis a beautiful animal, to be sure. Congratulations to both of you. Sounds as if he made a terrific shot.

Excellent!

Congratulations on one doggone fine bear. Big grin on the young hunter's face is pretty great too eh?

He is a good kid. Guided for me last year in Alaska. Did a good job, still a millennial however. We are working through those issues[emoji56]
