Big Game Rifles & Loaded Rounds ?

Depends on the what for me...
5.56 rounds I try to keep 1k on the ready
7.62x51 likewise

Hunting items...Depends on the components I have left, the availability to replace, etc.
Example..
30 cal Ballistic Silvertip 180 gr...
They've been very scarce..as in none.
So what I have remaining is all I can get at present. I have perhaps 70-80 total.
In this case I will load just the absolute bare minimum I can get away with. Perhaps a dozen. Shoot simply to make sure all is in good working order. 3-4 rounds...that leaves me with 8.
Plenty. One shot one kill. I did get a two for one one time but that story is for another time.
I can't tell you the last time I had to perform a mercy shot or unload a gun at game. Should I need more in a season I can load more rather quickly.

Even if components are plentiful the most I will keep on standby is 20.
The key is having brass ready to go. Trimmed, sized, etc...
I can load up 20 rounds in 30 mins or so. That's primed, charged, bullet seated, in the mtm box. I usually take an hour just enjoying the process but if I had to do it quickly I could.

While I like having a lot of each guns pet load done and ready to go there is a down side to it. If there is a new wonder bullet that you want to try and it works now you have a bunch of loads you might no longer use.

I am running into this with my 260, but really it just means more range time to shoot through them, so it is really a downside....

At this time, the only cartridge I have 200 rounds handloaded for is my 300 WSM. (Should be set for a while)
180 gr AccuBond in Winchester brass, WLMR primer, 69.5 gr of WXR (which I still have 5 lbs of), that produces 2978 fps out my custom 23.5" King barrel, and produces less than 1/2" 3-shot groups @ 100 yards (avg of .442").
Has proven effective on several moose and elk over the years, along with black bear and wolf.
