Bitteroot Bonded Core

Scotty, my uncle tells me that after he received the BBC bullets he would put them in a box, especially after he opened the bag. So the one's we find could very possibly be in a box and not in the original bag, although he would also keep the bag as well as mark the box. If he is successful in finding a box of them, that are not in the original bag, you would still be interested in them I assume. I told him I didnt think you cared if they came in a box, bag, or bucket, you just want some, but thought I better ask you. I already told him you did not care which caliber or weight, . I also advised a few of our other friends to keep on the look out for you also.

Sweet, yeah, I don't care if they come wrapped in tin foil to be honest Sean. Thank you for keeping your eye out for any of them.

Does your uncle have any recovered BBC's from the hunts in the North?

I ask him that Scotty and he is going to look and if so is going to send them to you. I also ask him to look for any pictures of them that he took out of an animal and again if he does we will send them to you also. I hope you remember what I told you his filing system looked like, so this might take some time lol

Scotty, our daughter leaves soon on her canoe trip and will be taking her 7mmwsm, you sure started something with that one

That's great about the bullets Sean. Pretty excited to see what comes out. I am headed down to NC here in a few weeks, so I am not in any kind of hurry right now.

Your daughter is set up for what sounds like it is going to be a great trip! I can't imagine the sorta story she will come back with.

How does she have her 7 loaded? I know it's an excellent package and handy as all get out too.

Hey Scotty, if I find some in .308 does that mean you will buy a 30-06 to shoot them :?:

I'll be checking all the local gun shows for you so you can get a 30-06.

Good luck buddy! I haven't been to them all, but I have NEVER seen a BBC. The darned things are secured tighter than Ft. Knox. But I would most assuredly use them from a 30-06.

Scotty, he loaded up some Nosler 160 gr. She got her load from Cheyenne, who said she got it from you. If you remember she rides and she has really taken to the BLR. We have not seen her use a bolt action since her bear hunt. She might be a girl after your own heart, as she has ask for a 308 Finnwolf and someone we both know found one for her. We are working out the logistics as we speak. Price wise, I can only say that sometimes the generosity of others amazes me, as there is no way the amount we will pay for that rifle is what the rifle is worth or what they paid for it. Nor will they allow anyone to thank them, publicly

Sorry, did not mean to derail your thread, we will continue to keep our eyes and ears open for a box of the BBC---oops, a bag of BBC, even if they show up in a box, or tin foil

That is what I was thinking. Pretty skookum combo really with the 7mm WSM and a 160 Nosler. That sorta combo will do alot of hunting real well and packed in a BLR makes it real handy.

The 308 Finnwolf would be real nice rifle for along of hunting as well. Handy as all get out.

No worries, pretty interesting trying to find the BBC's. The folks that have them know how well they work and wanna hold onto them. Still interesting talking with the users of the bullets.

Scotty,

I think A has put half the world on notice for you , in reference to the bullets you are looking for LOL

Remember the trunk in the old man's cabin. We did find four in that trunk. I did not know what they were, but my grandfather gave me a quick history lesson.

Those four bullet's, as well as the other rifles and misc items that we found are currently in a lawyer's office, as we set up a trust for the old man and want to make sure the money from the proceed's of the sale of those items goes toward caring for him in his remaining years. At this time nothing is yet available for sale, as the vultures are still circling and objecting.

I contacted my grandfather and he said he might know someone who was always hoarding old bullets, case's, rifle's and stuff and when he comes down off the mountain he will contact him and if he has any that he will part with, we will buy them and send them to A's company in the states, and they will get them to you.

He did tell me that Ackley played with a somewhat similar idea a few years before the Bitteroot fellow, but said the Bitteroot fellow made bullets, that many of today's company's have tried to emulate, with possibly Northfork coming the closest. He said, that without a doubt the Bitteroot's had a definite and positive impact on the bullet industry. He said they were great bullets's but in very short supply and for a rather short time, in the grand scheme of thing's. You know my grandfather so you can probably hear him saying this "you can not use what you cant get, so I moved on" LOL I think he was talking about how difficult they were to get even when they were being produced. Since this was all 20 or 30 years ago, his memory may not be perfect on the subject, but he can understand how a young man like yourself would want to know about them and would like to have some in their possession and if possible even shoot them. He will do what he can, when he can, to help you get some into your hands, if it is at all possible.

Thank you for your interest in my work Scotty, so far the study has certainly been interesting, challenging and a couple of times a little scary LOL Also thank you for for your load help with the 7mm wsm and 45/70, we are still using those formula's. I use the 300 H & H once in a while just to keep A from ragging on me LOL

Cheyenne,

Good to see your post. Sounds as if you are getting close to finding something that may excite Scotty. That'd be neat. Now, I'm almost sorry I sold those bags of BBCs this past spring.

Awesome information Cheyenne and I very much appreciate all of it. I know your grandfather runs in some good circles among big game hunters and shooters, so I think if he has a chance to find em, he will. I wished I could get him to post over here as well, but I know he is having too much fun running around chasing moose with his 348 Win..

A has been very helpful as well in searching for the Bitterroots as well. I know she casts a wide net.

Mike, I shed a tear when I heard they escaped your grasp! I know you are just trying to make me work extra hard for them as well!

I just hope you don't tell me they were 225 .358. If so, I'll be in the corner crying!

That's it.. I thought we were friends...

Throwing in the towel...

Okay! OKAY! They were 160 grain 7 mm bullets. I only had one bag left and decided to focus on other bullets for my 7mm WSM. Still, they would have been interesting.

Man, that was the 2nd bullet I would have given up some digits for! Son of a gun..

Had I known, I woulda' given them to you. When you come visit, you can look over my stash. Maybe you'll see something you want. I see some ancient Norma 225 grain 8mm bullets that I still haven't worked up for my 325 WSM. Maybe I'll work them up in the 8X68S. And there are some Speer 225 grain 8mm Hot Cor bullets. That could be a good excuse for you to buy a 325 WSM, Scotty! Oh, and I also see some...

I am sure your bullet stash is like Indiana Jones finding the Holy Grail... Almost scared to find what may be hiding in your collection Mike.

When I see things like that, I can't hardly control myself!
