This thread makes me want to go bear hunting again this spring. With the amount of snow we have had I'm not sure that will be possible during the season unless it gets warm soon and that will probably mean rubbed hides before we can access the areas we usually go. Hopefully it gets warm in early spring to melt the snow but holds off getting hot in later spring. I might have to load up some 225gr ELD-M Hornady's in my 30-338 Lapua Imp and see what they do to phone books. If they hold up enough I think they will smack a bear pretty good at 3350fps. Otherwise I can use the normal 230gr Berger load.

I've only seen black phase bears although I did see one with a white spot on his chest about the size of a quarter.

The white star on the chest seems somewhat common in this area. It is quite attractive.
