I’ve used a Bog Field Pod for a few years and I’ve had some success out of the blind with it.
When I saw the Bog ChairPod for sale on a local site I did a little online research and was happy to be able to purchase it for a fraction of the original price.
There were some reviews on line stating the seat was too low to the ground and wasn’t comfortable. Also as I am 6’4” tall I had some concern whether the gun rest could be adjusted high enough to be useable for me.
After getting it home I quickly set it up to try.
The chair is low as stated, but it isn’t uncomfortably low for me and I found the low profile to be very stable.
I took it to the mountain yesterday evening and spent a couple hours sitting in it while glassing the surrounding country side. Works well for me.
Being as tall as I am I did have to adjust the gun rest to the maximum height. This still required me to lean a bit to get a good sight picture but what I discovered is this allowed me to put my elbow on my knee to help stabilize the shot. So while the gun rest isn’t perfect for my size I think it will work fine. Once in position to shoot I was able to hold very steady but one has to keep in mind with the gun rest attached to the seat, any movement on the seat will transfer to the rest.
One thing to be concerned about— when folding the seat legs for transport I wasn’t aware they spring closed to the transport position with some force. I managed to trap two of my fingers between the legs and I was stuck for a while before finally freeing them. Would have made for a funny video as it smashed them pretty good and there was some foul language before I finally got them free.
Whether it is worth the full price is up to the consumer but I can say it does work as advertised.
I will purchase a tripod extension to place in the gun rest mount to allow me to use binoculars and spotting scope without having to pack a tripod.
