What about a bonded flat base spizter and flat point bullets for some of the comon cartridges like 270win, 30-30, 308, 35rem, 356, and 358win? Would the lack of polimer tip and boat tail make them less costly?

Would be nice to have 277 140gr sp, a 308 160gr fp, 308 165 & 180gr sp, 358 200gr fp, 358 200gr sp. There are alot of older standerd velocity cartridges that are still quite popular for deer hunting like the 30-30, 300sav, 307, 308, 3006, 35rem, 356, 358win, and 35whelen.

None of the cartridges you mentioned really "need" a bonded bullet. You can get by by any of the decent RN's already on the market. You really do not push the envelope velocity wise so as you can see this would be a very costly undertaking for a very limited market.
Now I can see some flat point need for the 356 win!

The neet thing about the bonded bullets is their anneled during the bonding process and there for expand at very low velocities. And nosler designs for 60-70% weight retension not 90%. Al thoese cartridges would beifit greatly form an affordable flat based bonded bullet. The 308 and 06 not so much but it would still compete with the fussion bullets.

I load the 35rem and the 200 gr core-lokt is the one bullet that expands at both 25 and 150 yards with out blowing up. If they quit making it I would like a better bullet then what speer, hornady, and seirra offers. I also load the 358win and 35 whelen still would a better 200gr bullet for them as well I am relieing here on the interlock spire point and pointed corelokt as well. the 30-30 is very popular and is used for black bears, pigs, and even elk and yes it could still benifit from a well made bonded bullet made just for it.

tjen,

The reason the BT is such an effective killer on deer is due to the weight loss. The lead becomes secondary projectiles.

The 200 gr SPCL is an exellent bullet. I have tested them in my 35 Whelen and they hold up quite well.

Thanks for the replys. What I like about nosler bullets is even with the Partition and AccuBond bullets there are design for 60-70% weight retension. So there is 30-40% of the bullet fragmenting and doing more damge while the rest plows on. I think we agree there. My point is there is a market for improved bullets for some standard cartridges as long as they still priced like the cup drawn bullets. Nosler does make a Partition for the 30-30 and I would like the option of a 200gr 358 cal AccuBond or Partition design for the 35rem.

My favorite 358 cal bullets for the 358win/35whelen are the 225gr Partition, 200gr pointed corelokt, and 200gr hornady spire point . And for the 35rem the 200gr RNCL . If the two corelokts were discontinued as componants the only good option mite been the hornady lever Evolutions if there offerd as componts.

The speer 358 cal flat points expand to late and to little at plus P levels for the 35 rem for deer. Thats +2300fps for the 180gr and 2100fps for the 220gr bullet. I would have thought at 356win velocities of 2400fps the 220gr hot core should work for deer/bear/elk?
