Jeff sent me some pics of how the last 24 hours have been spent with the new rifle. He can give you the details. Kinda makes you wonder if we need those big boomers that are kept in our safes :?: :!:

Wow - he didn't waste any time putting that little rifle to work! Cool.

So these are like Berger VLD bullets?

They do make limited runs of LD (flatbase) bullets in .224, but their bread and butter is VLD bullets. I think the 80 grain bullet that Jeff used for the 'loper has a BC over .500  .

I used the 80 grain vld, jlk was owned by Jimmy Knox but has since sold and now runs under the name swampworks. same bullet different owner. I wanted to see what this bullet would do and how it worked on game. the coyote were shot at under 200 yards and the one I shot in the B-hole while running away was totalled . the other on shot broadside fared much better. the antelope was stalked to that position 662 yards and shots while still in the confines of high probability precision. I wanted to see what the bullet would do while still at medium velocity. the antelope was bedded down when I fired and I had my tall bipod and my g3 eberle. pack with my legs wrapped around it to control the rear elevation "same position I used at

the Wyoming and sage flats comp in Jordan", when done properly the elbow rests securely on the knee solidifying the shooting position. The bullet went through the rib, heart and caught a small portion of the elbow on the way out. bullet was not recovered but showed no signs of excessive fragmentation. all in all I was more than pleased with the performance of the bullet and rifle. The dope called for 3

Sorry this phone is kind of difficult , the dope called for 2.9 mils and there was a smallish puff of wind and a wee bit of right to left influenced mirage so I dialed in .2 mils right and the rest is in the photo. the rifle, scope, dope card and bullet performed perfectly.

Jeff, that's an excellent performance from a small bullet. Congrats. Reminds me of the article written by Ross Seyfried a few years ago, on 22-6MM Remington Improved shooting the 90 grain JLK. I'm still contemplating building one in the future.

Thanks df. I haven't really pushed the pressure department, I am sure I could throttle up the velocity another 100-150 fps if I wanted to. the SD was right at ten with the new necked down cases, I think it will drop more with the fired ones going through it. I am happy with the velocity and accuracy where it is and they also feed like a champ. The recoil is minimal and the 3.5-15x56 nightforce allowed me to watch everything unfold.

Awesome shooting Jeff! Very awesome rifle. If there is anything I am interested in, it is a fast twisted 22 caliber like yours. That is just too much fun and alot of fun to shoot. Great bunch of animals buddy. Hope to see it in a few days.
