For those of you who have never seen a grizzly try to get it done. Their strength and speed are unbelievable to witness and can leave you flabbergasted. It is how people react to seeing the bears I enjoy the most. Seeing them from the boat or the floatplanes is fun and gets people pretty excited, but that's nothing compared to seeing them while wading. There is always reason for concern when you are close to a grizzly but it is what occurs after the bear fishes through I enjoy the most. The look of absolute joy on someone's face is fun to see, it's neat to get to share. Last summer I had a truly remarkable day, the man I was guiding caught all five species of salmon on his fly rod. A rare occurrence given it was not a pink salmon year in that part of Alaska, so only a few genetic misfits were in the stream. And we saw bears, several of them. All he talked about back at the lodge was the bears.
I know Wisconsin teacher is heading up to Denali this summer so he should hopefully see some, I hope someone takes our Canadian friends up on their offer as well.
Get er done, go see a grizzly you won't be sorry.
I've been blessed getting to see and do a lot and looking forward to doing more.
I hope I get the opportunity to see a Grizzly one day.
