No I dont have any pics, but the 06 took out a doe this afternoon using 180 grain BT. She was on the long side of quartering away at about 110 yards, and that entry wound took out most of the right shoulder, and made a quarter sized exit hole in the left side of her neck.(she was up hill also.) Donated her to a family at church. My son is in Nashville at a Beta club convention, and he wont be to happy that the old man is catchin up to him. He's still one deer up, but I do have an elk in the freezer 8)
I've got him shooting my 300 winny now, and he's doing good on targets, but hasn't had the opportunity to take a deer with it yet. The magna port break drops the recoil down to where he doesn't flinch with it either. Guess I'll have to buy ME a new elk rifle now  Maybe a Ruger #1 in 300 win mag?
Just got 2 packs of 180 partitions in the mail today. they are supposed to be seconds, but look the same as the last new ones I bought.(firsts?)

Congratulations on your doe, Those BT's work very well on deer.
Ya just gotta love those factory seconds. Its just about all I shoot.

BT= stands for ................bang / terminated

BT's are very accurate, but Nosler isn't kidding around when they say "OPtimum" expansion between 1800-3000FPS. They'll work great between 1800-3300FPS, just the 3000-3300 FPS deer look like there was a hand grenade dropped by the bullet on it's way thro. My 264 win loved the 120 grn NBT with retumbo, I took it easy with the velocity to optimize on game performance and barrel wear @ 3265FPS. I never recovered one from a deer. I have a few recovered this year from people I load for, a 243 90 grn and a 7mm 120grn, will post pics and weights.

I've switched to the 130 AccuBond to reduce the meat damage and because it's a better all around load for both deer and elk. with a SD of .266 it's almost the same as a 180 grn from a 30 cal.

I got pics...that is the entry wound...quartering away, the bullet exited the far shoulder...a better description would be "destroyed" the far shoulder (sorry...no pics of that side, but it was messy). He fell...dead right there.

Before anybody jumps all over me for killing Bambi...this was a cull hunt, the landowner wanted any legal deer shot...that was a condition I agreed to to get permission.

I shot this spike Saturday morning with my SPS Tactical 308....the bullet was a 168 grain Ballistic Tip.

Looks like it worked just fine! Congrats. I like hearing about the .308 and other modest hard-working rounds being used. No muss, no fuss, nothing fancy, just real-world cartridges for real-world hunters and hunting.

Good stuff.

 Clint Smith said "One is none, 2 is 1 and 3 is better....

I have 4 308's and 2 30-06's....

I used to have 2 30-06, a 700 BDL and a 742 ADL carbine.
Right now I have a void in my safe. I think I need a good 'ol 30-06.

I will never part with my 30-06. A while back, I was wondering what to get my son to use for elk. It just so happened that when I let him shoot my 300 winmag with a muzzle break, it didnt bother him one bit. and he still hit the back yard bullseye not dead center, but within 3 inches in 3 shots.(3 inch group) Now I have to find me a new elk rifle, or do I?

Your 30-06 is all you really need for elk but you now have a valid reason to get another rifle.

Thats what I was thinkin too.Just glad the wife doesn't read this forum!

I started using the 150 grain BT when I began reloading for a new featherweight 30-06. We have taken many, many deer with this bullet at 3000 fps, does an excellent job. Also used the 180's for a 300 wm taking lots of deer. Since it was ready to go for a bull elk season with these bullets, I grabbed it up and went hunting. Took 2 elk that year with the 180 BT with 1 shot each. Bang/flops each and not really any big mess to deal with.
