Just wondering what rifles some of you plan on hunting with this year. If you got a different caliber or trying a different bullet. I have two rifles to try this year. First is new to me Rem 700 CDL 35 Whelen using Sierra 225gr and Hornady 200gr. 2nd is older Rem 700 BDL 3006 using a Nosler 180gr BT just because I've never used a 180gr bullet before.
So what are you guys using this year? Dan.

Not sure if my work rotation will land me home during hunting season but, If I make it out for deer myself I will have my Sako 85 in 260 Rem with 143 ELDX. Elk will likely be 30-06 with 165 AB. If I'm not hunting and take the daughters I may just grab the ruger No. 1 in 243 to back them up.

Have retired the 06 and 7/08 s both are great but for last few years all I shoot is 6.8 spc ARP chamber . 18" rifle 12.5" for pistol season .

Killed a buck last yr with my 760 Rem in 35 Remington with re-worked factory ammo and that was so dang fun I had to force myself to put it away and try a different rifle for the next tag. So not done with that rifle yet. Will likely be first on the list again this yr.

If fortunate enough to fill a tag early, after that who knows? I got plenty bullet/rifle combo's that need tested on game yet.

I’d like to hunt with my 300 RUM some this year, but the Mashburn will likely outvote it.

For deer, I’d still like to use my 7600 280 and the old P64 270. I have a new to me Whelen I just had restocked that seems quite nice as well. Need some range time with it first.

Gonna hunt with a .45/70 for the first time.

Also need to get my TC Encore pistol in .243 back in the rotation, its been neglected.

Also would like to kill a deer with my 6.8spc Rock River AR

Sheesh, I think I have more rifles than there are deer in the county I hunt the most!!~

If I draw the antlerless deer tag this year I will be taking an ancient Winchester model 1894 in .25-35 WCF.

Other than that any tags I draw will get punched with Ole Reliable, my .30-06!

That 25-35 is neat.

I would like to get my 7-08 140 AB tuned little better. But it may be pre-empted by a Howa 1500 6.5 CM. H-S stocks on both that are the favorite contour in my hand. I put a Timney on the Howa as the two-stage HACT trigger is not an adjustment that I can make. Depends on which one is humming on opening day.

Waiting for that custom 6.5 x 284 from GA Precision, should be ready in less than 2 months hopefully. Planning to use the 140 Ballistic Tips for deer season. I still love my 6.5 Creedmoor with those Chocolate 120 grain Ballistic Tips.

What speed are you getting? Hoping to get to 2900-2950 ish with the 26 inch barrel. H4831SC is a little slower but darn a great powder for that caliber. It will be my first choice of powder, 2nd would be the IMR 4831 which will be a tad faster.

Back in 2015 I had the privilege to harvest a bull elk with my late dad’s Remington M721 in 300 H&H.
That had been a goal of mine for years.
My wife has recently inherited two rifles that were her father’s who passed away 40+ years ago.
The first is a Savage 110 in 30-06 and the second is a Winchester M94 in 30-30.
I might carry one of those rifles deer hunting this year and will later pass them along to my sons.

So far I've been using the 338 RUM 300 gr ABLR for crop damage deer hunting although I did use my buddy's 33 Nosler 265 gr ABLR on one deer. Still planning on getting the 416 Wby out on the bean fields yet this summer.
This fall I will use the 35 Whelen 250 gr PT, 280AI 150 gr ABLR, and maybe the 257 Roberts 115 gr BT.
