Bullet Expansion Speed

I have been reading articles on how hunters are taking shots while hunting over 200 yards with a 30-06. I'm confused about something. I use 150gr AccuBond in my 30-06. According to Nosler, the minimum speed the AccuBond bullet will expand is 1800 FPS. According to my load, I hit around 1800 FPS at 250 Yards. So for arguments sake, if they were using the same load as me, how are they killing game at 400+ yards. I don't plan on shooting anything that far, I'm just curious how the bullet performs under it's rated 1800 FPS Minimal speed. Thanks for any insight you can offer.

A 150gr AccuBond out of an 06 at 2800fps (which is mild) still is at 1800 fps at 500 yards. What muzzle velocity are you loading to? You are right that you don't want to use the AccuBond where the IMPACT velocity is below 1800 but that should be WAY out there for the 06.

SakoSteve270wsm is spot on.
You can get 2900-3000 fps MV with the 150 gr AB in a 30-06. that will give you terminal performance out to 550-600 yds.

I was mistaken. I was looking at the Energy information not the FPS on my ballistics chart. I apologize for the confusion. Your are correct. My load is 1869 FPS @ 500 Yards and 1786 @ 550 Yards. It is 2837 @ the muzzle.
