This is the first time this has happened with 7mm/160gr. AB for a 280 Rem. but the bullets feel as if they`re sticking with the seater plug. Then as the ram comes down it`s pulling the bullet back out a little bit.Any suggestions on how to fix this besides buying a new seater die?Die set is RCBS. Thanks,John P.S. The dies are cleaned after each use.

It sounds like your die is crimping a little heavy and as the ram is coming back down you feel a little resistance.
If your die is clean, try re-adjusting your seating die.
Is all of your brass the same length?
trim your brass to the same length, run your ram to the top, screw your seating die in until it touches the shell holder then back off two turns, insert a properly trimmed piece of brass into the shell holder and run the ram up to the top of the stroke. Screw the seating die down until you feel slight pressure. (that will be when the die will start crimping.) If you don't want a crimp back the die off half of a turn. Lock the die down. Screw out the seater plug all the way. charge the case insert the bullet and run the ram up. Adjust the seater stem until you get the desired C.O.L

Old#7, It only happens with the 160 AB's.150/120 B-Tips haven't had any problems of any type.I did check the die adjustment and have it set up as you suggested.Still doing the same thing.??? Wednesday I'll be going to the toy store and hopefully pick up another set of dies.

Polish the inside of the seater stem. Use a bullet, one that feels like it is sticking, chuck it in a slow speed drill motor. Make sure the bullet is running concentric. Use finer compound until the inside of the stem is polished smooth. You don't want to increase the size, just get a good polish, also place a little dry lube inside the stem.Rick.

1st find out where the bullet is contacting the seater. color the bullet with a magic marker from ogive foreward to the tip, then just start to seat it in a (dummy) case. Remove the cartridge and look for the spot(s) the ink has been rudded or disturbed. The seater "should" work off the ogive of the bullet and not the tip. If the bullet contacts the tip use a small drill bit in a dremmal or other hand drill and slightly drill the bottom of the seater deep enough the bullet stops makeing contact.
If the bullet is contacting the ogive (which I believe it is) polish the inner edge of the seating cup with a piece of 0000 steel wool or 600+ grit emery. You don`t want to remove metal just knock any burrs or rough edges off.
I have had a couple of die dets that the tipped bullets sharp ogive jam in the seating cup and hang up slightly. The bullet seat but the uniformness of the COL and run out suffer. This may be your troubles.
