When you put it into BT perspective it sure makes those BTs look real good.

Well from what I see its shit for close range shots. But I wonder how they hold up from 100 yards and out?

I don't think it will hold up until impact velocity is lower than 2700. Which in a 300 Bee is gonna be 350-400 yards. I think it would be great in an 06 but I don't understand why they would produce a big game bullet focused at the LR crowd that won't perform from muzzle on out.

Fwiw.... someone posted on another forum that they had talked to a Hornady technician and he said he wanted bullet impacts at 2500 or slower with the eld x. Of course this is second hand information but it kind of looks like it might be a good goal. On the positive side about the bullet it looks like it's BC's are very accurate based on people shooting at long range. And people seem to be finding accurate loads pretty quickly.

Basically not a big game bullet at magnum speeds IMO

It's another Berger from the looks of it. Not saying it's bad, just not my thing. I would like to see a big buck take one in the ribs from a 300 Wby though....

Might be a good practice bullet paired with the 200 AB...

I'll save my jugs , and shoot a 6.5 , 143 grain ELD-x into them . if I remember right quickload says 2800 FPS from my 260 load . I was thinking of doing this anyway , I hadn't seen a ELD-x torture tested yet . by the looks of the one above it does look like a very frangible bullet .I'd say , keep em off the shoulders .

I don't think you'd be disappointed. It's a tough bullet that will reach far. Very accurate for me in multiple rifles as well.

The XLD-x is pretty disappointing up close. I think you're better off with an AB or ABLR.
They both hold together up close.

The 140 Ab's I used to shoot out of my 280 rem worked very well. I have no doubt they will work in my 280AI. As far as the ablr's I have not heard good about them. I have heard they blow apart on game and have been told not to trust them.

If you have the ELD's....I'd be happy to send a few into jugs when I get home...don't go buy them, but if you have them send me 10 of them.

I'll do 2 tests...one from the 280 Ackley at or near 3,000 fps, and one from the short barreled 7mm-08 as slow as I can safely load them with H4895.

Agreed.... There are plenty of great examples of the 160 AB working well. Including a few elk from this past fall.

As much as I struggled with the ABLRs, I'd trust them ahead of what I saw in the pics from Jake.
