The other day I ordered a digital scale. Since it is new I thought I would weigh things other than the weights that came with the scale. I grabed a box of 50g BT and proceded to weigh each bullet to see how accurate my new scale was. I was shocked to find that of the 30 or so bullets that I weighed not ONE weighed 50g. they ranged from 48.9 to 47.9g. I know that the jackrabbit that I am going to shoot tomorow won't know the difference. But is this normal ? I have never weighed bullets befor, only brass.

P.S. The scale is a RCBS

It is perfectly normal. In fact if you are within 1 gr out of 50 units, I'd say you got a pretty good box. I weigh (and batch) all my bullets and some of the bulk stuff (of heavier weight class) will vary as much as 2 1/2 grs in a box of 100. If 80-90 % of the box is within .5 gr in your box, I'd save them out for your very best hand loads. I always bag mine in lots of the same weight so that each test/hunting batch I load will start out as equal as possible.
