looking at shooters pro and they have some bullets that i'm interested in but not really sure it's worth it yet.

I'm looking generally & then specifically.

Generally: how much of a weight difference between bullets in the test phase do you like to try?

338-06ai
I haven't recieved the rifle yet but bought 100 of the 200grain accubonds, sps has 210 partitions, 225 partitions, 250partition and 200 CT

what would you guys suggest? mainly going to be deer/bear/groundhogs at this point no big trips planned but do you think it's worth trying a different bullet weight or see how it likes the accubonds and go from there? Must say the CT would look quite nice in a 338-06 case but already have a 200grain so will there be much difference between AB & CT/BT in the same caliber/weight?

have a great load for the 160 AccuBond, but none on sps right now, did try the 140bt and wasn't getting as good of groups but also didn't spend as much time, so will the 10 grains make that much of a difference or the difference between AccuBond & Partition make a difference where I should try? or stick with what works since I think a 160 AccuBond will do great for deer and bear as is

In your 338-06, the 200 grain AB and the 210 grain PT would be a great bullet that would do all you ask of it. At the velocities you will generate, the CT-BT will work quite well in that cartridge. If the 160 grain AB is working for you in your 280AI, I would stick with it; that is a great bullet at the velocities you will generate.

For the 338-06, the 200 gr AB, 200 gr CT and the 210 gr PT would cover everything you would hunt and all would have a similar POI.
The 225 gr PT would take care of all the heavy lifting you would do.

In the 280 AI, go with the 150 gr ABLR and don't look back.

I was debating on the ABLR but my average shots are probably 5-100 yards with a few spots that I can reach out to 300 or so which if I recall someone said they contacted Nosler and wasn't recommended for close up shots.

Down the road (after land, house, horse barn purchases/builds) I'd love to hunt west where then the ABLR will certainly get another look before a trip where I can stretch the 280ai out a bit

I have no concerns running the 7mm 150 gr ABLR at close range. My MV is 3100 fps.

The two head of game I shot with the 150 grain AB from my 280 this past fall (bull elk and mule deer buck) were each well under 100 yards. Either expired rather convincingly; no bullet to recover as it passed through.

I agree with the others, the 200 BT, 200AB and 210 PT are really some awesome bullets in the 338. I like the 200 AB and 210 PT in my 338 Win Mag. There isn't much of anything I wouldn't hunt with any of them. The 200 AB's are very good shooters from my 338.

I agree as well the 200 gr CT or BT for practice and deer and either the 200 gr AB or 210 gr PT for bigger stuff. I would wait for the 160 gr AB to come available again or try the 150 or 160 gr Partition whichever one comes available first.
