So, I found that sweet-shooting .375 H&H load with the 260 grain Accubonds and I knew I was running low on those particular bullets...
I keep literally thousands of bullets on hand, but the .375 H&H is new to me and I don't have many components on hand yet - just experimenting, trying to find what works.
Went down to the local gun shop a couple of weeks ago to see if they had any 260 gr Accubonds. Nope they didn't. Normally I just order my bullets on line, usually from Grafs. No hassle, they get here in a week or so and I'm happy. The shop owner told me I'd have my bullets in a few days - well here it is, three weeks later, with my bear hunt a few days away and he still hasn't got the 260 gr Accubonds!!! Dang it! Here I am with NO more of 'em either. Phooey.
Okay - now I have to figure out if I'm going to switch to Sierra or Hornady 300 grain BTSP bullets (which also shoot well, they came with the rifle when I bought it) or go buy a box of 260 gr Nosler Partitions which are available, and hope that they shoot well. Sheesh...
It's only a few clicks of the scope adjustment to re-zero with the 300 grain BTSP Sierras...
I HATE getting caught short like this. Of course I could always just use my good old tried & true .308 for which I've got about 500 rounds loaded & on hand, but dang it... I want to use the new .375 for this hunt...
Grrrr... One more example of why it's nice to stock up on good components... A rule I usually follow very well.
Phooey.
