Who manufactures Scopes for Cabelas and how do they rate compared to others?
Always was curious about this.

Don

I heard they were made by Meopta.

OK, you had me curious so I speed dialed Cabela's.

The product specialist could neither confirm nor deny. :( So I'll just say, the more you spend on a Cabela's brand scope the better likelihood it was made by a top end manufacturer.

A few years back, they were made by Meopta. Don't know if that contract is still valid, but it was apparently the case a few years back.

I think their more expensive ones are Meopta, but I suspect the cheap ones are Chinese.

A few years ago when I inquired at Cabelas who made their scopes The sales guy replied they were not allowed to share that information.

I believe Patrick is spot on.

The Cabela's Euro optics, which includes spotters, binos, and riflescopes, are all Meopta made. How do I know? Lol, they actually do say "Meopta" on them! :)

I also confirmed it with Meopta that they make the Euro line of Cabela's optics. Meopta will NOT directly service these optics, however. That had to be handled via Cabela's, but the actual service gets done by Meopta, of course.

I own a Meopta/Euro scope and I would buy another in a heartbeat. They are superb.

The non-Euro optics under the Cabela's name are not made by Meopta. I do not know who produces those optics.

OK to a dumb hick, what is "Euro" only European scopes? What about leupold, vortex etc? sold there or online cabelas. I am going to be getting a new one for a .308, and I certainly don't want some chineese made crap.

If you buy a name brand, i.e. Leupold, scope at Cabela's it will be the same as the Leupold you would buy anywhere else. The Euro (Meopta) scopes are made in the Czech Republic.

I happen to like the quality of the European optics over American and Oriental optics.

Cabelas does not give you many choices :x . I have 300 buck in gift cards LOL, and I am struggling with buying one there or spending it on other stuf. They have the names, but not the models of many. I thought they were the worlds largest outfitter LOL.
