Talley Lightweight Scope mounts.

Im thinking of putting a set of the Talley Lightweight Scope mounts on my 280 Browning A-Bolt. I know there's some negative comments out there on these but I take the vast majority of that with a grain of salt.

I like the idea of the integrated mount and ring being together, plus, they are manufactured in SC. I was also thinking about a Backcountry picatinny rail and rings but I don't like the idea of it covering some of the chamber opening.

For those that use Talley scope mounts how do you like them?

one has a 3.5-10x40 Leupold , 6-18x40 Leupold , 3-9x40 Zeiss . I did have a 4.5-14 Burris

I have used many, many sets of Talley lightweight rings. They're my preferred combination when I can use them, whether my rifles, family or friends.

I do often lap them once installed just to avoid any slight pressure they might put on the scope. You usually don't have to, but I'm picky.

I still have a few sets of them and typically I’ll lap them and put bedding under the bases when I mount them to fix any gap or irregularity in mounting to reduce stress on them.

The Leupold Backcountry’s are very nice and seem a bunch tougher. Talleys a great company but I think their LWs could use a toughening up.

I have preferentially used Talley rings on quite a variety of rifles, up to and including a 358 Norma Magnum and an 8X68S. Never had a problem.

I have a few sets and prefer Talley over most offerings. They machine cut them together so you don't have to lap them (actually you void the warranty if you do) they have some direct bolt options which I seek out, so no rail and introduction for more possible problem contact points. They hold up well, and have done the job for me on anything from Rim fire, to my 338rum. 1 inch, 30mm, and 34mm are the sizes I use them for.
