Can't get any antlers, so I'm switching to teeth.

Well, after having not pulled the trigger on anything with antlers this year, I have been moping around the house for a week or two.

Not any more! I got the 55gr lead free BT shooting good out of the Savage 12 243, and I'm swapping out my quest to antlers, for one of teeth!

Had a bit of luck so far this week.

First dog with the Lead free BT (LFBT?). 200 yards, he was just sitting there. Had a bit of a cross wind, so I caught him on the edge of the neck. Looks like the LFBT is pretty explosive! The pic doesn't do it justice. There was a pile of hair on that bush!

#2 about 265 yards. got an exit on this one, but not bad at all. If I would have skinned her out (I wanted to but didn't have time) I wouldn't have had to worry about sewing anything up at all. I was a bit jupprised by the lack of size in the bullet holes, as when I walked up to her it looked like it rained blood for a five yard circle.

Got this one today. 523 yards. Same bullet and rifle. Got a nice small exit on this one as well.

This rifle always makes me feel better

Nice, Jake! I gotta get out your direction more. My best friend Kurt used to live in LaGrande and I made it out that way a lot, but since he's moved to LaPine (and I was working out of town) I make it about once every two years, about half the time when I'm heading to Idaho. (Truth be told, I'm hoping I can drop a project or two off with Mr. Blagg.)

The 55 gr bullet must be really moving from that .243 Win!

Good work on the coyotes. Thin 'em enough and you may see a bump in survival rates for fawns, and even for adult deer in winter. I like shootin' coyotes! Especially after I'm done hunting deer for the year.

I'm five miles off I-84. Stop by anytime. My reamer should be in next week, and my barrel a few weeks after that for my 338/375R build. I'm hoping I can spend the weekend with him and watch. I'll share everything here about it after its done.

Darrin is starting to get a lot more business. He is moving his shop out of his shed in the back yard to a building that he is renting in town. They are very excited.

Guy- 3965 fps.

Nice shootin' Jake.

Best thing for a coyote is the application of a well placed projectile.

I'm happy you found the necessary medication to fix your ailment. :p I would suggest continuing with your treatment program!

I was thinking of cow elk and taking the ivories out when I read the title. Silly me. Nice dogs.

I may be one the same track for the preds if I cant get out a few more times to get a 180" whitetail or a decent bull elk by the end of the month. I lose all this wekend and thru to next sunday...work and family commitments.

Jake

Maybe you should just stay with hunting dogs. It would increase the elk and deer population. They are a lot easier to carry out also. You would be preforming your civic duty twice, once by reducing the predators and by increasing the elk and deer. In addition you would reduce your fuel costs, and wear and tear on your outfit, plus you would not have to buy all of those expensive tags. Great idea, right. ? My advice is free so please don,t send me any gifts or cards.

Well, I have a cow elk hunt coming up in Dec. and another one coming up in Feb-Mar. So I'm just using the yotes to hone my skill, along with doing my civic duties

I would bet though that I spend more fuel hunting yotes all year than I do hunting elk or deer.

Excellent! After all this coyote shooting, putting a bullet in an elk should be a sure thing!
