Brought a tear to my eye... When I saw a Pre-64 Win 70 Super Grade, that had been altered from .257 Roberts to .257 Wby magnum... The XXXX's across the original caliber designation on an otherwise very, very nice rifle... Ugh.

I like the Weatherby, and I understand how easy it is to do that conversion. But messing with a Pre-64 Winchester Super Grade? Yikes! What do you figure the rifle lost, maybe $3,000 in collector's value?

Ah well, not my rifle...

Perhaps the new owner didn't understand the value of his rifle. Still, 'tis a pity.

Yeah, that is ashame, but if the shooter that had the work done, wanted a 257 WBY in a Pre64, I can understand it some.. But man, a 257 Super Grade... Phew, that rifle was worth alot of money... Probably could have bought three maybe four Mark 5's...

That is strange for sure and I noticed yesterday Sportsman's raised Accumark prices 200.00 dollars  Not sure why he did that but I would suppose he had a reason other than velocity ? Barrel shot out?
