Chamber length question

I recently received some Sinclair chamber length gauges.
The first rifle I checked was a Winchester Model 70 Stainless.
The measurement I got was 2.52" which duplicated itself twice.
Would anybody know if this sounds reasonable for a factory rifle?
Also I'm assuming I don't have to trim cases until they get close to that length, which could take a good long time.

Well that was dumb. Lol

I did a few more.
30.06--2.520
308--2.048
280--2.518
243--2.081

I did find some info on the web so I guess 30-50 thousandths over book length is pretty normal.
Interested in any info you may have to offer.

That is very typical of how they're cutting Factory Chambers today..... if I had to venture a guess I would say the factories know there's lots of guys out there reloading and so they give us a lot of room for the stupid people who might not trim.
If time = money those inserts are worth their wt in soft steel...lol.

Well it will be one less step in the reloading process.
