While at the beach we had a couple of clam days. These were perfect, very low tide, mild conditions and lots of clams. First day was easy digging and the clams just jumped into the bucket. Day two was a little slower do to hard sand, both days limits were dug in under 45 min. Here is a picture of 1 limit.

Those look great, Bill. Man, that will make for a true gustatory experience.

Russ,

They look like geoduck (Panopea generosa). They are some fine eating.

Bill,

Nice!
I love clams. Can you email me some. :)

On Friday the dig started at 0630, so by 0800 we were back home and had them in the freezer and some in the frying pan by 1000. These are Razor clams, a big one is 6.5 inches and average for this tide was probably 5. We were digging on the Long Beach Peninsula, above Ocean Park, we have a cabin there.

Man, I gotta come out to that cabin. I can almost eat my bodyweight in clams!

Those look perfect for a good clam chowdah. Clams and lobsters are the only thing I miss since I moved out west!

I call a sea food market in Portland and have them shipped live to my door since I don't get up there in the Truck any more. That's always an option. :)

Yes, you're close to a whole different coast that's got great seafood. Clams, oysters, several types of salmon... Good stuff!

Elkman - the razors look good!

Yes indeed Guy! I have since modified my recipe to include Dungeness crab and Washington state mussels. Still tastes amazing!
