Hey, Scotty, are you in country right now? Do you and your guys need anything? I'm sure between all the folks here we can prep up the right care packages and get them over to you ASAP. Let us know.

Yeah buddy, got here in April. I am well taken care of though, I do appreciate it. A few of you all have sent me some great stuff since I have been here. Kurt has supplied me with plenty of good reading material, Joel sends some packages to keep my mind sharp, David has supplied me with some Obenaufs, candy and pancake jam, Brian is continually cleaning out his magazine stashes and sending them along, plus, he is trying to send SUPER bags of Doritos in order to try and fatten me up to slow me down, and to be honest, just having the ability to keep up with you all is great..

I haven't gotten the entire team together yet, so I haven't posted, but Mason took GREAT care of my guys with Hats, Shirts and Copenhagen.. Truly a fan for life from this guy.. It is tough to get us all in one spot to get the picture, but I should be getting it shortly.

I do appreciate it all though. It is awesome getting things from you all. The guys usually tear up the lickies and chewies that are sent. Which is awesome. Even the few that don't hunt have Nosler hats and shirts... Gotta keep the non hunters well educated, since heck, they like to shoot guns and I push my favorite bullet company pretty hard!

I used Eezoxx for many years - good stuff. What I like best about it is that it replaces water in actions and elsewhere. I had a BLR that I hunted blacktails with during Nov. in western OR. for years. That gun was a pain to take down. I used eezoxx on it all the time. after five seasons of WET hunting I broke that gun down to componets and the only rust was found on the nut attaching the rear stock - which had never been treated with Eezoxx! It's hard to find in stores or even carried by most of the big E-order houses.

Good to hear of your longer term experience Scott. It really don't suprise me any.
It is a bit strange on the mfg's marketing strategy.
It seems to target the smaller local mom&pop type retailers, or with the Dist. being the main scource to the public.
I know the gun shop I frequent has never heard of it,,,,,word of mouth sometimes travels slow.

HA! I will have to feed the guys.. I wouldn't be allowed back on a plane if I ate all that!

Years ago I read a corrosion test article that compared most rust prevention products plus a few that I hadn't considered before. The tester discovered that conventional ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) provided the longest lasting corrosion protection. Products tested included a variety of gun products, as well as WD-40 and a host of other typical rust prevention products we've all heard about. For the test, he treated bare steel strips, and placed them outside near his coastal beach house for weeks.

I've cleaned and lubed the internals of my Remington 1100 semi-auto shotgun using a weak solution of 1 part ATF and 9 parts commercial solvent (i.e. acetone) and a variety of brushes. Obviously the wood had been removed from the action beforehand. The solvent quickly evaporates after the final wash, leaving behind a very thin film of ATF in the many nooks and crannies.

I wonder if Birchhwood Casey-Barricade (Sheath) would work? It surely works on the hunid left coast for rust protections. May not be practical, because of cost, for armed services use but for us guys, it is different.

Interesting test...... great information.

Some years ago I was introduced to Breakfree Collector's formula. Mucho Gooder then then normal Breakfree.

Here at the shop we have a tank of SRPO#20 Preservative. This is the same stuff grinders use to protect freshly ground parts to prevent them from rusting. Our excess parts storage area is in a non-enviromental controlled area and unless coated heavily with oil, parts will flash rust in our humidity. Today, the humidity is around 75%.

We have parts on the shelf that have beewn there for upwards to 4 years treated in SOPR#20 that show no signs of rust.

I've considered trying it on my rifles......

Maybe at test such as this could provide some interesting information.

Anyway..... good test... good write up.... gonna have too look into eezoxx.
