heres the problem,, ive got a new model 70-270wsm ive put around three boxes of factory ammo thru it so far,, the last ammo run thru it was win. surpreme elites that had lubalox ,, the barrel has been srubed and cleaned to where theres no copper or fouling i used sweets for the copper,, ive still got what looks like copper in the barrel ?? but like i said theres no more blue on the patch using the sweets,, is this the lubalox coating the barrel and if so how do i get it out ????

You might try one of the foaming cleaners. Or JB's bore paste.

You might get somewhere using KG12. The stuff attacks jacket fouling like a swarm of angry yellowjackets.

What do you mean by "looks like copper"?
Sweets flat out removes copper. I don't have any experience with lubalox bullets. I have heard that it takes a few rounds of coated bullets to transfer the coating to the barrel. That may be what you are seeing.
Of course if it is a copper color than it's copper.

I would give Bore Tech Eliminator a try. It is not ammonia based and does not immediatly evaporate. I used to use Sweets and Butches Bore Shine but switched to Bore Tech Eliminator. I had what I thought was a clean barrel after using Sweets, and I ran a patch of Eliminator and it came out blue as can be. Took another 4 patches before the blue stopped.

As a test the next time I cleaned I used the Eliminator first and then follow with Sweets and Butches and they removed nothing. Not scientific, but enough to convice me. Eliminator is suppost to be real popular with the benchrest crowd and you know how perticular they are.

I've used WipeOut for several years and absolutely love the product. It is all I use anymore. It'd be my 1st choice. Spray some in the barrel and let it sit over night. Then see what comes out on your patch.

I used to use wipeout, and I loved it but now I can't find it locally any more. Figures. I'm currently using Butchs bore shine it is okay. Seems like I use a lot to get the barrel clean.

In my humble opinion Wipeout is the only product to use.
I have had great success with it especially with my 204 and berger bullets.
I have never had to do more that one cleaning with it.

Blessings,
Dan
