Confusion using Quick Load

I worked up two different loads for my 264WM without benefit of QL. I finally got down to business to learn the program today. One load, 62.5gr RL25, 140 Berger Hunt VLD, Norma case, WLRM primer, 3.290", 2936fps. I loaded all the data into QL and it was right on the money. Next load: 59.2gr H1000, 129gr Hornady IB, R-P case, 9 1/2M primer 3.310", 3086fps. This load was way off the mark. It came up with 2629fps. In order to get 3086fps I need to load it up to >65.0gr. I can see some difference but that is just way out of bounds. Am I missing something in my inputs? Any help would be great. Thank you.

59.2 of H1000 is a very light load, only 85% load density (and thats a very slow powder)...Hodgden data suggests a start load of 60.2 grains with a 129 grain bullet.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be questioning my chrono...they will lie to you sometimes.

That said...have you measured the actual case capacity of your fired brass...have you measured your bullets (length)? Those can also throw your numbers way off in not taken into account...

Chrony is accurate with other known loads but could still be the culprit. I did measure case capacity. Is there a block to enter my numbers? My Hornady 8 manual says 51.7 is start load at 2800fps. My load is right where it should be per the Hornady load table. That's why I'm confused. I used the same components that they did. Same barrel length and twist.

Put your measured case capacity into the "maximum case capacity, overflow" box...

See what that does...

85gr is the overflow capacity figure. That makes it look even worse. I have run other data through it and it's right in the ball park but not with this one. WEIRD!!!

I'm not a 264 guy but now that its come up I guess I remember that h1000 never comes up as a near top powder for alot of my magnum predictions and its a great powder for 7 mag on up for sure. That's why its always a great idea to compare ql to manuals and actual chrono results. I think in most cases h1000 is slightly slower than re25....for sure less spikey?
