Cooper Arms - company review

Most of our presidents are proud to pose in a photograph like this one! In case you had not noticed, that is a Cooper Arms rifle in Mr. Bush's mitts!!



I know this is not a rifle but look at the craftsmanship in this thing!!

That's a lot of barrels. I was told they turn out about 3000 rifles each year.

Here's where the metal meets the wood!







Okay I'm starting to get a case of the vapors!! Can you say OH MY!! Gosh one of these sure would look pretty holding a 280 Remington action and barrel.





Put a bit of finish on it so the customer can see what the grain looks like. Any takers?

Checkering room. They keep it dark with just a light above as it is a lot easier for them to see their work and what they are doing. She is laying out the pattern by hand!!

Barrels are hand polished on the exteriors. This one is just starting.

Just patiently waiting to go into the range room to have a 35X Leupold put on it and tested for accuracy. Yes it is 50 yards indoors off a nice heavy bench with sandbags and a very still environment. Of course they are looking at function, safety, feeding, and accuracy. It is a 3-shot 1/2" guarantee at 100 yards. They try and take out human error as much as possible so they can truly see if the rifles are performing as they demand them to. They expect them to be consistent in their accuracy. This way if something is amiss it can be caught before it gets to the customer.
ANYONE want to line up to test one of these beauties for them??? :mrgreen:


Yes I was allowed in the hallowed grounds of the reloading room. They use known established loads that consistently group well in each chambering and have been tested and approved throughout the years. Cooper Arms will tell you the bullet, powder, charge, primer, seating depth, the whole ball of wax of their test loads if you call and ask. They are not afraid to share what they use.



Indoors and 50 yards.



Leupolds just waiting to do their job. Can you imagine the continued beating these Leupolds get and they keep on ticking! That says a lot. Shooting anything from a .22 LR to a 416 Remington mag, the largest they chamber so far.

Thanks for the inside look, those are amazing rifles. I must say the whole controlled round being superior is quite overblown, a properly made push feed is reliable. That's a round about way of saying ditch the Winchester and buy yourself a well made local product :grin:

Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures. I think it was pretty darn neat they let me do this. I don't know many places that would take the time to do this let alone allow you to take pictures.

I have a good friend who has a Cooper in 22 ppc and it will put them in one hole they are amazing rifles.

I really wanted to see this it was my wallet that was reluctant but my money never gets to the wallet anyway :lol: so every Cooper gets to wear a Leupold 36x man they are some lucky optics :grin: thanks for doing this as I am sure it was hard on getting you back in the building , so do you own any or have plans ? I could see now why they caught my eye and their craftsmanship is impressive and probably the cleanest machine shop I have ever looked at! I used to be the guy cleaning the machine shop at International Paper Co. When I was a youngster and our floors were going 24-7 and required lots of attention! I know for a fact I would have 1 on order if I went in the place and I could not leave without something on order :mrgreen: I would suppose their production numbers allow them to build such a quality product and was wondering whose barrels are they using ? Thanks for the porn now I need my nitro and a nap :shock:

Hogwild they use Wilson barrels but upon customer request will use a Lilja if so stipulated.

Awesome. I didn't know Cooper offered color case hardening... Pretty spiffy stuff. Great photos, and I'll bet you were as overwhelmed as you stated. Surrounded by top quality rifle building right there, up close and in person.

Wow geo that does shoot lights out!! No harm in bragging a little with groups like that. Makes a guy want a Cooper. What velocities are you getting with those loads? I could not read it in your data.
