Is a harsh country that breeds hard people. Lots of mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and plants that make you bleed.

It's very "interesting" country.
Run in to smugglers and spotters/snipers, for the cartel, all the time down there.
One of my mates had a true Mexican Stand-Off with some smugglers while he was hunting a couple years ago. Interesting is a good word.
