Coyotes taking down a buck

They are plenty capable of taking down larger animals in groups, and to darn smart for their own good. A neighbor lost 2 newborn fall calves in the last 2 weeks, they would be up and nursing just fine in the morning then gone when he got home from work. After the first 2 disappeared he drove up on a pair of coyotes in the process of getting a 3rd. One coyote was distracting the cow while the other drug the calf off by a back leg. I went over and called one in, killed a big male. Hopefully that will end his trouble. I shot coyote #38 for the year this morning and there are still plenty around.

I'm told pelts are bringing $70 this winter. Wolves have a bounty of $500 nearby, and you can keep the skin so long as they punch the ear. When my final deer tag is filled, I believe I'll get serious about predators.

i got back from the farm last night. We got a nice buck but after watching that I am glad that yesterday I let the air our of 2 coyotes. I will definitely be carry my rifle this winter and will be taking as many coyotes as I can.

Blessings,
Dan

Everyone in Oregon that wants more wolves and fewer hunters should have to watch this slideshow. Mother Nature can be very harsh yet many people think that getting shot by a hunter is inhumane.

Absolutly brutal!!! I cannot beleive a full grown mature buck can get worn down like that. never woulda guessed.

I have seen wild dogs and coyotes in Georgia kill many deer including full grown bucks. They just tear them to shreds while still alive. I shoot every coyote that I am able to but there are still too many. Several of our neighbors have lost their pet cats here recently to coyotes.
