Creating a reloading database

Well I finally pulled the trigger on buying an Oehler 35P. It's supposed to arrive today. I would like to create my own reloading database using libreoffice. Has anybody here tried this yet? Any tips would be helpful...

Nope, I just used excel and made my data base and load records there. I enter the velociy for each charge and the spread sheet computes a AVE, STD-DEV, and velocity increase for each charge or OCL as I enter it.

Reloading record data base is for each batch or reloads, and has every bit of data for each load batch and its actual velocity too. I do not keep track of lot numbers but all most every thing else.

I have a data base in Excel that I have created over the years, and keep refining as needed.

My data base is built in Excel. Don't see why you couldn't use Libreoffice, however. I'm not clear on what advantage you might gain, however.

I was going to use the database program, not the spreadsheet. This would allow me to search for data on any criteria i.e. powder type, caliber, velocity, SD, etc. I'm stuck doing outdoor projects here before the heat comes so hopefully I will get something created this summer. If I can get it working properly then I will share it on the forum no doubt. What data does everyone record in their spreadsheet?

Everything from S/N's to loads, to purchase date, to optics, to description on guns and optics.

Three ring binder & hand-written notes. Keep an occasional target for reference. Old school I guess, but the rifles shoot well despite the pen & pencil notes in the three-ring binder.

Hats off to anyone with the patience to learn Access. I can use it, but I never got far into learning how to set it up. If Excel didn't work as well as it does I might be motivated, but it does and I ain't!

I bought a coin collecting program, based on Access and tried it on a couple of projects. I could set it up and run it but why bother? Excel is good enough for what I do now.
