Just got home from my Dad's elk hunt. This was the culmination of 35 years of elk hunting for him. Until this year, Dad had only killed cows and spikes. He finally drew a special tag and we scouted on and off all summer and two days solid before the hunt.
Dad liked the looks of this bull and so we went after him opening morning. Turns out our scouting paid off and we cow called him in to 30 yards where Dad ended his hunt with a perfectly placed broadside shot!

He shot him with a T/C .50 cal. Muzzy. 100 gr. Pyrodex and a 300 gr. SST. Performance was awesome. Stuck under the far side and the heavy bull dropped after a few steps.

Congratulations to your dad; he took a good looking bull. He has every reason to be pleased with that bad boy. What rifle/cartridge was he using?

Thanks for the kind words.

He shot him with a T/C Omega muzzleloader. 100 gr. Pyrodex and 300 gr. Hornady SST's. They performed flawlessly. Slug was found under the hide on the off side shoulder crease. Shot was broadside at 30 yards.

Congratulations on a great hunt.. You both have wonderful memories and some fine elk to enjoy. Very well done.

Congrats to you and your dad. That is a hunting experience that will bond you two forever. The picture of you and your dad should be framed and placed in a spot to be seen everyday!!! I promise you that every time you see it, you will smile and turn a bad day at work into a great day.

That is a beautiful bull, congratulations to you both, the memory will last for ever. !!!!!!

Thanks all, wisconsinteacher, I will be framing that pic for sure! Dad sacrificed and ate a lot of tags allowing my brother and I to tag out. It was awesome to be there with him for this amazing hunt!
