So, right now I have no ammo, no brass, no slugs, no dies for my "new to me" 325WSM.

SPS has Nosler Custom ammo (2nds) right now for $29.95. So 100 rounds would cost me $150.

If I were to buy dies, bullets (200gr AB) and brass (winchester) I'd be in it about $160 for 100 rounds. *not including primers and powder.

Problem is: this gun probably wont get shot 100 times in the next 20 years! :shock:

I'm thinking I'll buy three boxes of the NC ammo and maybe look at buying dies if and when the stock pile runs low......

Most of my other rifles get fired 50-200 times per year, so that's always a no brainer. But this one I may never re-load for, it just doesnt make economic sense....... kinda makes me sad

Do any of you have this type of situation? I have a few antiques that sometimes get fired, but that doesn't count :lol:

I have a feeling that when you finally get the chance to pop a few caps with this rifle, you will be buying dies and components. It can be addictive to shoot this cartridge.

Yep, get the brass and dies! No need scarring that rifle with that "factory ammo"! I know that Nosler is good stuff, but there are plenty of 325WSM shooters to get you a good load going quickly and you will have your load for your rifle! I hate shooting factory ammo. Also, check SPS for 8mm 2nds, I know they had some recently in the 200gr PT's! That will save you 20.00 right there. Scotty

I just wanted to add that I recently bought 100 Norma cases in 300 WSM and necked them to 325 - One step and they drop right in the chamber and shoot great

Haven't had a chance to chrono the load to compare with the WW brass but I'll take Norma brass anytime I can get it - point of impact is pretty close at 100

Plus there is no guarantee that the factory loads will shoot the way you want them to.

Get the dies and components and work up the perfect load for your rifle. No garuntee that the factory ammo is going to shoot well in your rifle anyways. As Pop said, buy 40-50 cases and go play.
I load for all my rifles, several have never seen a factory load! :wink:

I didn't think I'd shoot my .375 H&H much, but I went through at least 200 rounds just in 2010 - it all paid off when I took it on a bear hunt. Was surprised at how much loading and shooting I did with it.

If you really like the rifle, you may well need more ammo. But what the heck, nothing wrong with laying in a good supply of high quality ammo for it and not bothering to handload.

Yes, I think it's a fine round. A fellow I know got a good deal on one a few years ago and has taken it to Wyoming on three mule deer hunts I believe.

He tells me it does a mighty find job on both deer and coyotes... :grin:

You need this cartridge in your safe. Winchester's 8mm is a great cartridge that works very well indeed!

Yeah, I have always liked the 325WSM since I first saw it released. It is a 100 yard target right now. My 5 and 10 yard targets are making this 25-06 shoot and looking for a 6.5. Plus, I would like to put a 375 - 416 into my safe sometime. You know, just in case there is something the other rifles won't do! Scotty

I thought heflalumps were extinct in the USA. No doubt it is on the protected list. There was a report in the news this morning of someone shooting a chupacabra in Kentucky, however. Don't know what rifle he used.

I had to google "chupacabra" to find out what it was, hopefully the feds didn't see that article or they will close down the hunting in half the state to protect the other one. A nasy looking beaste at best. Had never even heard of one before that article. I am working on a letter to the Oregon Fish and Game director regarding wolf reintroduction in Idaho. One of thier biologists is quoted in a local newspaper as stating that the wolves have had little impact on Idaho herds, and the management in Oregon will preclude that from occuring. I am sending several of the Idaho Fish and Game letters to Feds showing a 80% loss of elk in a fairly large area and document the reductions in hunting opportunities. In addition I will be sending that information to several newspapers in the area. The quoted bioligist was "way" off base and obiouusly had not none his research before spouting off. Nuff PT time :grin:

Consequently, Bill, whilst you named the heflalump, I couldn't help but wonder if you were actually referring to the heffalump (who usually hung out with woozles)? The chupacabra shot in KY looks suspiciously like a coyote with mange. It is similar to pictures of chupacabras from TX. There appears to be some similarity to the Montauk monster. Enough of the fun stuff. I have not been terribly impressed with the scientific ability of biologists working with the Ministry of the Environment here in northern BC. There seems to be an undue reliance on anecdotal evidence without foundation. In one notable encounter with the biologist, he was unable to provide a norm for his studies on mule deer as he advocated significant changes to the harvest limits. Of course, after a few years, there is panic as the MOE attempts to adjust to new realities. In any case, these refugees from a kindergarten only serve to elevate my blood pressure.
