I got this in an Email , and thought it was worth passing along . there seems to be growing talk with pre-fit BBL's . I thought this might help someone make their mind up ,, on what action to buy .

Planning a new build and want the option to run Ruckus pre-fit barrels?

Good news: most Defiance actions are ready for pre-fits right out of the box.

These actions are pre-fit compatible:
Ruckus
anTi
anTi X
Renegade
Classic
Ti
Ti X
Rebel 3 Position
Deviant Comp
Misfit

Every action on this list comes standard with a recessed bolt nose, which is what makes it pre-fit ready. The only exception is if you specifically order a non-recessed bolt nose. If pre-fits are in your plans, just stick with the standard.

Not built for pre-fits
The Deviant CRF, Outcast, and Elite aren’t pre-fit compatible. They’re great actions, but if pre-fits are part of your plan, choose from the list above.

Already own a Deviant or Classic?
  • Deviant: If your serial number starts with D3 (built 2026 or later), you’re good.
  • Classic: Look for .253 engraved on the bottom of the recoil lug.

Why you can count on it
We hold headspace to +/-.001" across our actions, so a pre-fit made for one fits the others. As always, have a qualified gunsmith do the final fit and check headspace with gauges.

Questions?
Call us at 406.756.2727 or email sales@defiancemachine.com. We’re here Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time. Have your serial number handy and we’ll confirm your action for you.

Pros and cons of going to a prefit barrel?
Never really looked into it...

the prefit BBL is chambered , and threaded , to just screw on the action it's machined for . be checked with a set of go / no go gauges , and shoot it . no gun smith needed . you would need a BBL vise , action wrench , and a set of GO / NO GO gauges . I'm not sure if the action wrench is always included with the Defiance actions , but not long ago they were . might have been a promotion .

I guess the CONS would be ; maybe buying a BBL that doesn't check out with the GO / NO GO gauges . not being able to buy a prefit in the chambering you're wanting .

Pros and cons of going to a prefit barrel?
Never really looked into it...
I have 2 Shilen prefits on Wby Vanguard actions and they are exceptional. They are chambered in 224 Wby and 375 Wby. I have several post on here with their results.
For the price Shilen sells them for it’s hard not to look into them if your comfortable in swapping out barrels yourself.

Thanks for info gents!
Was kind of my thought, but needed to confirm with someone with more knowledge.

I have always had thee gunsmith do the work for me, as I appreciate their knowledge and skill, and as I do not have it, I am willing to pay others who do, to perform this work for me.
I'm an operator first. While I do have some mechanical skill and aptitude, I know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to be confident that I will do it right until trained hands-on by someone who is skilled in it. And then I would need the additional tools and space to be able to perform the work myself. (I do have a friend who is set up for this.)
Will this happen? 🤔
Who knows; maybe once I retire??? (But that is still some years away.)
