I notice alot of 30-06 shooters are using IMR 4350 whats the difference between IMR and H4350 (besides burn speed)

They are produced at two different factories and have slightly different chemical make up. The same difference you`ll find between any two powders from two different makers with similar burn rate. They are not produced to be copys of each other, but to have similar burn rates only. IMR was recently produced in Canada and Hodgdons "H" brand by ADI in Austrailia the last I heard. I know Hodgdon bought out IMR but I don`t know for sure if they changed the location of manufacture or not.

H4350 is slightly slower than IMR4350, I find it actually closer to IMR4831 in the carts. I use it in (.260ai & 338mag).

I have used it for years in my 7mm Mag, 30-06 and 338 Win. Very good powder easy to meter and load with.

Hodgdon makes both now.

H4350 is a extreme powder said to be less sensitive to temperature changes. I have chrono'd H1000 and Retumbo from 90+ to zero degrees and have found very uniform velocity's. I can only assume any of the extreme powders would do the same . I haven't chrono'd any of the IMR powders under the same conditions so I can't say what they would do. FWIW I have chrono'd RL22 in a 300 WM , 180 partion on a 90 degree day I had a high of 3124 and a low of 3079 for 5 shots . On zero degree day with the same load and gun had a high of 3005 and a low of 2964 for 5 shots. This itself probably wouldn't bother me to much but it also showed some shift in zero and grouped slightly differnet . Good hunting KH
