Why I ask, I would like to hunt Mule Deer, Black Bear. I do enjoy DIY hunts & not into a Guided hunt. I travel to Canada once a month for work and enjoy the country. Any Providences that don't require a Outfitter ? Thanks

I don't know about the other PROVINCES, however in the PROVINCE of BC you need a guide.

Google is your friend.

Here in Ontario, you can hunt with a guide or an Ontario resident as well,

Lou

I will be honest I think it's total BS when a Guide is required. I believe the Guides & Outfitters have to much clout. I man I know from Elkpoint SD use to elk hunt in a wilderness area for 20+ years then were shut out because Wyoming now requires a Outfitter for nonresident. They say it's to keep them from getting into trouble, but there the only one state Wyoming that requires a Guide or Outfitter in the lower 48 states. Yes I have hunted in a wilderness area in Colorado. I use to hunt WY but not since they passed this law, but I have hunted CO KS SD MT ID MN IL TN MN. I may hunt WY again some day but nothing on schedule. Whose the looser gas stations motels restaurants. Fault me for wanting equal opportunity for all & equal protection under the law. Here in Saskatchewan you have to have a guide for big game and can not hunt big game at all in the southern portion of the province.
I believe you can hunt upland birds with out a guide but that does not include pheasant :(.

sask boy it been 15 years since I have been to Regina very nice farm country. I am suprised Canada has not loosen things up on hunting since, I read in Ontario numbers of Waterfowlers is about half from the 1970's & since Canada passed strict gun control with registration. I don't know what big game license sales have gone down. I would think they would like the revenue from nonresidents. One of the last States to allow nonresident deer hunting was Kansas, it only changed there law allowing nonresidents recently. Iowa had a law where nonresident Kansas hunters were not allowed to deer hunt Iowa till they changed there law allowing Iowan's the oppurtinty to hunt Kansas. Now Kansas hunters can apply for Iowa Deer license's. Yes Iowa has Great Deer hunting for Whitetails. I my self go to other places is about seeing the Country & People, when I was young I wanted to shoot everything now it's the sunrise & getting together with friends that matters most. The farm land south if Regina is supposedly the most fertile in the world :). I have to agree with you regarding hunting, I now enjoy the company & the experience of the guys around me  I still enjoy a crack at the odd animal but the game is just a bonus !

Blessings,
Dan

Same in Alberta, Non-Resident Alien must use Outfitter unless Hunter Host thru friend or family member. As for waterfowl, that under Federal not Provincial legislation. As for waterfowl, that industry has got out of hand IMO due to NAFTA, but I wont get into that.

Hope you choose to hunt in Canada. Find a reputable Outfitter and you will have a great time!
