Weather has been really ugly here for a couple of weeks. We have an inversion and freezing fog just above us on the hill. Visibility this morning is right at a half mile, with temps in the 20's. We live adjacent to several thousands of acres of ranch land, mostly treed, with oak on south slopes and Pine an Fir on the north aspects. Lately we have had several coyotes howling near by, both morning and evenings. As I headed to the man cave at 0 dark thirty this morning they were across the county road above my neighbors house. (My PT hill). So I threw on some wool, grabbed my , 308, stuffed some calls in my pocket, and headed up my PT trail. I positioned myself just back from the lip of a side ridge. After about 5 min of calling I see a pair of ears trotting up the hill slightly to my left. Just before it came over the ridge it stopped, and I put a 150 gr, Speer SP, through the neck. A great way to start the day. I hiked back down to the house and was back for a glass of chocolate milk at 8. In a few days I will go higher and try again
