With the new stock and the Wyatts magazine box I thought I would go play a little today. Loaded five rounds of 250 grain AccuBond over 89 he of H1000 with an overall length of 3.700 velocity is2910 with an SD 8. Distance was 100 yards prone, off a bipod.
First 3 into .185
#4 Made it .475
#5 pulled it out to an even inch, but I pulled it bad and new it.
I think I found my load

Oh yeah buddy! That is a HITTER right there! That big 250 AB is just made for those windy, steep Eastern OR mountains!

Very nice. Sounds like an incredible load. Too bad we have to wait so darned long to see it in action! Awesome accuracy though. What a rifle.

Already looking forward to it, probably end up shooting my spike at 30 yards instead of getting the opportunity to stretch it out. If you draw we have to meet up. Now that I've moved home, I'm an hour out of LaGrande. Not sure where you guys access Mt. Emily, but we're close non the less.

Oh yeah, for sure Don. I'd hope to score at 30 yards but know it usually happens closer to 300 out there in that country...

We get our supplies out of Lagrande so we will meet up for sure.

That is a fine load, for sure. I must admit that when I saw the title of the thread, I thought it meant that you were putting the rifle up for sale. Glad it turned out as it is and not as it might have been.

Love the rifle, learned a lot with it trying to get it shooting to it's potential. She's accounted for quite a few elk as well, can't see ever letting her go.

Yes sir I do believe you indeed did fine your load, that rifle is a shooter for sure. (y)

I think I'm done with load development, just to see what else it will do. The rifle kicks like a mule and shooting prone just about ruined me. I'll bang some steel with it this spring, just for fun and to fire form my cases.

Boy I know that well. My 338 Baer's do the same thing. I haven't shot mine in quite a few years but I might see if I can get 225AB or 250AB's to shoot in it to possibly take to AK where the big bears roam. Both of mine are amazingly accurate just like yours as you saw from the pictures of the groups I posted on the other thread. They are a lot of HP for sure.

I used your recipe seams to work well. Thanks. I think your 338 would be well suited to Kodiak. You can get some long shooting on deer and boo, but those dang bears. They're so dang ornery in the fall looking for those last couple of meals

Very nice load Don.
Looks to be a keeper so load it up and let's go coyote hunting. [emoji4]

And with a tight group like that, I think P-Dogs would be shaking in their shoes... Nice shooting
