I've got slight "donuts" RIGHT at the base of my wildcat round necks. The expander ball will go through but it's a definate rough spot and measurable.

I DO NOT seat bullets to a depth they would force that donut out and create dangerous pressures shooting but........

EVEN THOUGH I am not seating the bullets inside the donut area is that much of an issue pressure wise? So far I've got zero pressure signs with any loads but haven't been pushing for velocity yet.

God Bless from ye ol ignorant one.
Steve

PS.......Please see the "wanted" classifieds

You can ream them out or if you can push them to the outside, a neck turner should remove them. Don't want to push them in/out on each loading cycle. Could become a seperation issue.Rick.

Planning on removing them but was wondering if I wasn't creating a dangerous situation shooting them a few times till I find one.

Thanks!

If I was going to use the cases without reaming I'd make sure to anneal them between firings.

If your expander ball will go right past it then it is not too large and will probably not still be there after sizing

For example if your gun was a 30-06 and the expander ball was .305", the expander would go past the donut, the die would size the neck down to something lower than .305" (say .304") and then the expander would expand the neck back to .305". So IMO the neck ID has been sized smaller than the donut diameter. Essentially you no longer have a donut

Now if the expander caught on the donut then that would be a different scenario. The expander would then push the donut back out of the way.

I guess I'm saying that after sizing it is unlikely that the donut would still be there
