We had our opening weekend. Too dry to walk around and still too many leaves. Just sit and watch. Seen plenty of does, no bucks. Fresh Elk sign but they are holed up.
We are expecting rain this week and I start my vacation Fri for a week of Elk and Deer hunting. I'm hoping to get my wife in front of a bull. She has shot deer but not an elk.
I'm glad to see as many deer and sign, last year was not good with the hard winter the year before.

I'm hoping my new Sako 85 gets some action next week. If not the deer hunting will just get better through the month of Nov.

I think the weather is about to change here in the Pacific Northwest. We're supposed to get snow and rain tonight and tomorrow here in Washington. Maybe it will continue your way soon...

Our general deer season opens next weekend, and I'm hoping we have good cold weather, along with some snow on the ground. Too many October hunting seasons with 60 and 70 degree temps and dried out vegetation... Time for a winter-like hunt!

just got back from unit 13 last night saw some nice bucks and 1 good bull but wasnt able to connect. started snowing when we left. dry very dry but the elk calf and the smaller bucks harbested by others in the party were extremely fat. good luck to all

I hope that you and your wife enjoy yourselves. Remember to be safe and take lots of pictures. :)

Blessings,
Dan

It rained last night while out steelhead fishing!!

Looks like possible rain for a while.

Guy, I lived from '82 - '03 on Cowlitz county and hunted from the Willapa hills to Mt Adams during those years, and I do remember opening week end some years being in the 70s and dry. This year is going to be a better start, good luck.

It rained last night while out steelhead fishing!!

Yeah, but that made the fishing better. I've caught some of my finest steelhead in some brutal rain.
